Albums :
Insomniance was assembled in about two weeks, and it likely sounds so ;)
The theme very loosely regarded metaphysical travel; rising and falling in love; other tides, such as consciousness; a journey through a sleepy, but sleepless night; a sojourn in sorrow; and concluded with a tranquil morning sunrise; a bleary-eyed recognition of time after making it through to the often distant shore of the night--dawn.
All tracks were first and only takes, and then tinkered with what software I had at the time.

"Phase 1" consists of seven nocturnal synthesis experiments. They were recorded in my high desert soundlab over the last two years. They are nearly chronological in order, and generally get more complex as the album progresses.
The only themes for this album were that all tracks would be monosyllabic in title, and could serve conceptually as either/both a noun and a verb. Random and arbitrary perhaps ;) But at the same time, imposing some parameters on the project may have saved it from dispersing in too many directions and becoming random and arbitrary.
It was a fun challenge to try to fit the emergent sounds with traditional ideas of things and actions. And vice versa when more consciously shaping the sounds to fit those ideas.
I will try to provide more detail and notes soon.
Take good care,
Jeff Fermon
